Hyde Park Hayes Courtyard

For a change of atmosphere the courtyard space provides a refreshing but shaded space within the main building. Birch trees again provide a lightly shaded copse above darker paving materials and low, shade loving ground covers such as Deschampsia, Heuchera and Berginia. The black basalt pathway echoes the ellipse first experienced in the arrival area and the pattern of splicing pathways is repeated.

Low benches provide spaces to sit for a more peaceful office break and the birch trunks provide luminous verticals against the dark, tinted glass windows.
